The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association ASCER is launching the eleventh Tile of Spain Awards in Student´s Graduation Projects category. This Competition is aimed to enhance the use of Spanish ceramic tiles among young national and international architects RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Conditions of participation The competition is open to any Graduation Project from Spanish Universities or international Universities with comparable studies. Students can submit their graduation projects which have been presented during the 2011/2012 academic year, before the 23 of October 2012. Projects entered for the competition must make substantial use of ceramic floor and/or wall tiles in the visibly structural part of the building. Participation implies the acceptance of these rules and conditions. 2. Submissions The following documents must be submitted: - Registration form. The registration form should be sent with the rest of the documentation to the Awards Office (ASCER. C/ Ginjols, 3. Castellón, SPAIN) before the 23rd October of 2012. Download the form - Visual and graphic panels. Five DIN-A1 boards with drawings describing the project. These drawings do not necessarily have to match those presented to the School of Architecture. Designs can be therefore improved between having been submitted for graduation and being entered for the Competition. Besides, apart from the drawings, the boards can include photographs, info graphics, texts or any other representation which is considered necessary by the entrant. It is compulsory to include on one of the boards detailed drawings showing how the ceramic tiles have been applied. - Construction specifications. Firstly, a brief program statement addressing the goals and describing the project no more than 200 words long. Secondly, a brief text should be attached justifying the reasons for selecting the ceramic materials used in the project (maximum 300 words). Both documents will be presents as a binding A-4. It can be included as many sheets as it is necessary in an annex to detail the information included on the boards. - CD. All the pictures, the digital plans (.eps, .pdf, .jpg, .tiff), the description of the project (doc/pdf), the panels in digital format (jpg/tiff) and a picture of the author(s) will be compiled in a CD. The resolution for the project images will be 300dpi. All these documents must be clearly identified with the title of the project and the name(s) of the designer(s). 3. Prize First prize: 6,000 Euros The retention under the current tax legislation will be applied to the amount of each award. The jurors may reserve the right to name special mentions in order to enhance the specific characteristics among other projects. The awarded projects will be published in the official competition web www.tileofspainawards.com, as well as in the special book published for the competition and in the press dossiers spread all over the world. 4. Jury The jury will be formed by architects and interior designers with expertise in the field: - Chairman Juan Navarro Baldeweg - Members Francisco Aires Mateus Luis Martínez Santa-María Joseph Grima Anatxu Zabalbeascoa Matali Crasset Ramón Monfort The jury will be tasked with the following duties: - Judging the entries. In a report, the jury will give the reasons why it has taken the decision and each member will give the personal view for his/her own vote. - The jury will act in unison and will award the project by majority votes - The Award must be given and it cannot be given to two entries equally. - The Jury’s decision will not be open to appeal. - The jury’s decision will be published on www.premiosceramica.com 5. Co-operation All contestants agree to co-operate with the organization of the Ceramic Tile in Architecture and Interior Design Awards (ASCER) and provide access to press and other media as they may wish to interview them or to visit and to photograph their projects. No reproduction rights will be payable on any document submitted for the Awards and the information will be able to be used for publicity purposes (publications, exhibitions and in the media) 7. Return of work ASCER will return the documentation to the candidates who request it (except digital formats), within a month from the announcement of the jury´s decision with the exception of those projects that have been awarded or have been selected with a mention.
